So it’s been over two months since I started the procedure for do-it-yourself pre-cancerous and cancerous skin cell removal. I still look fairly mottled but at least there are no open wounds or scabs to gross me (and others) out.
What complicated matters was that the steroid ointment my dermatologist gave me to help heal the skin also gave me folliculitis, an infection of the hair follicles in and around my beard area. Not a pretty sight. (Thank you WebMD app for the iPad for making that connection for me.)
I did this to eliminate any basel cell cancer and calm the red, splotchy areas of my face (the pre-cancerous and cancerous skin cells). As you can see, it’s too early to tell whether or not the procedure was worth it. I figure I’ll give it another month or so before I head on out to the Clinique counter at Macy’s to see which foundation color would work well with my skin tone.
